LISTENING TO YOUNG PEOPLE
The Association will shortly be reviewing their information for children and young
people and are keen to seek views from children and young people to:
- Find out what information they feel is important to know about.
- Seek feedback about what format the information should be available in e.g. they
currently produce booklets. With more and more young people having access to computers
they may prefer to download the information they need from the web, which would also
allow more anonymity for those who want it, rather than receiving a booklet through
the post.
- Invite them to share some of their experiences if they want to. This could include
examples of how they are coping/how they did cope, what support they accessed, what
worked well for them, what didn’t work so well etc. They might prefer to share their
feelings or experiences by sending in a poem or a picture.
- Establish what method of communication they would like to support the review e.g.
would they like an electronic forum so they can share their views and ideas with
other children and young people?
It is really important that the development of resources for children and young people
accurately reflects the needs and views of children and young people themselves.
